La 29.ª edición de los Critics Choice Awards se celebrará el 14 de enero de 2024 y en las últimas horas ya anunció el listado completo de nominaciones, encabezadas por "Barbie", que consiguió 18 candidaturas y de este modo se convierte en la película más nominada de la historia de estos galardones.

Hasta el momento, los films que llevaban este puesto eran "Todo en todas partes al mismo tiempo" (dirigida por Daniel Kwan y Daniel Scheiner, que por el momento es la cinta más premiada de la historia del cine, según IGN) y "La forma del agua" (de Guillermo del Toro), que obtuvieron 14 nominaciones cada una.

La película de la muñeca de Mattel dirigida por Greta Gerwig ("Mujercitas", "Lady Bird") es seguida por "Oppenheimer", la biopic sobre el físico que desarrolló el Proyecto Manhattan realizada por el británico Christpher Nolan (trilogía de "Batman: el caballerlo de la noche", "El Origen", "Memento"), y por "Pobres criaturas" ("Poor Things"), del griego Yorgos Lanthimos ("La favorita", "El sacrificio del ciervo sagrado"), ambas con 13 nominaciones.

Otras grandes candidatas son "Maestro" de Bradley Cooper (la cinta biográfica sobre el músico Leonard Bernstein y su relación con Felicia Montealegre) con Carey Mulligan, "Los asesinos de la Luna" ("Killers of the Flower Moon") de Martin Scorsese (quien también es productor del film anterior) y la cinta coreana-estadounidense "Past Lives", del estudio A24. Mientras que "La sociedad de la nieve" es la gran candidata por Mejor Película de habla no Inglesa.
